A temporary ID can be used immediately to place holds, use the library’s online databases, and download eBooks and eAudiobooks.
To get a library card giving you full access to all materials, bring to the library at 509 Cherry Street, Jamestown, your photo ID and proof of New York state current address. For out-of-state residents, cards cost $10 a year. Patrons must use their own cards to borrow or reserve materials. If an applicant is under 14, a parent or legal guardian must sign for the child.
Looking for additional digital materials? New York residents ages 13 and older can get a digital library card through the New York Public Library’s online card application. You can also request physical items with this account; however you will need to check out your items with a physical card.
Loan Periods and Late Fees:
Books, audiobooks, magazines: 3 week loan period and 4 renewals; late fees of 15 cents a day per item.
DVDs: 1 week loan period and 2 renewals; late fees of 50 cents a day per item, 25 DVD checkout limit.
Maximum fines are $5 for each adult item and $1 for each children’s item. If an item is not returned, you will be charged for the cost of the book, until the item is returned or paid for.
